How did we get here?

We are in the midst of an answer to prayer.  The thing is, the answer isn't what we thought it was.  Since our engagement, we have always desired to adopt.  It is such a beautiful picture of God's love for us.  Going into marriage, we had no idea that we would struggle with infertility for years.  After three years of trying to conceive, God gave us a son.  He is now ten years old, and is a constant blessing and joy.  We have long said that God took all of the good stuff He usually spreads out over three or four kids and gave it to us all in one.

Over the last nine years, I have undergone almost every infertility treatment you could name, from surgeries to medications to procedures and injections.  We quit and restarted several times.  Since Jonathan's birth, we desired for our family to grow, but we don't look at our family as lacking either.  We have all been content but longing.  Jonathan has prayed for a baby sister since he knew how to pray.

So why didn't we adopt sooner?  Well, we tried to walk through that door several times in the last nine years and each time, it providentially closed.  We thought God had answered our prayer and owned our "threeness", as I like to call it.   About 5 weeks ago, God opened that door. More accurately, God picked us up and carried us through that door.   For any of you who share our experience with infertility, you know how painful and emotionally exhausting it is to start over, whether it is a new medical option or foster care or adoption or... you get the idea.  We have felt strongly that for our family to grow at this point, God was going to have to basically leave a baby on our doorstep.

We were contacted by a friend in another state who is very involved with a young woman who is pregnant and pursuing an adoption for the baby.   I am not going to provide much information out of respect for her privacy, so let's call her "Rosie".  After speaking with the mother by phone, she expressed a desire to move toward adoption with us.  Since that time, we have met her in person, and continue building a relationship with her by phone and text.

She is amazing - so smart, so sweet; we just love her and are excited that God has brought our lives together.

We are now within two months of her due date.  Yes, that's not a typo - less than TWO MONTHS! We are in the process of getting a home study done and we hope to start the fundraising part of this journey next week.

We ask you to join us in praying for "Rosie" and the baby girl God is forming in her.  The coming weeks will be more difficult for her than for us.  We ask you to pray for us and we wait in hope and faith for a daughter.
